Let’s take a look at everything that happened during June and what’s to come during July.
Heart House completed the 2020/2021 School year in early June with testing and surveys. Summer program kicked off June 21st and students went on their first field trip in over a year! Hurrah!
The school year wrapped up with the annual student and parent feedback survey. While 92% of parents feel their child is learning new things – only 81% of students agreed! Is that because kids think they know everything? 87% of students improved their reading fluency and 94% improved their prosocial behaviour which is an indicator of how well they get along with others.

H3: Head, Heart, and Hands this Summer!
Heart House loves summer program! Because of you over 60 children are enjoying fun and educational activities Monday through Thursday from 12:30 to 4:30.
The summer theme is Explore! First was Exploring the Solar System, then Planet Earth. Next week is Nature followed by Recycling, Farming, The Food Chain, and ending with Healthy Choices. Classes will delve into each week’s topic through science, reading, math, and fun activities.
Let’s take a closer look into each of the classrooms!
The Wildflower students had a BLAST while they were at the Frontiers of Flight Museum! Students really loved getting onto some of the plane exhibits, as well as the museum’s other interactive activities. Pictured left is the class in front of a Blue Angels aircraft. A fun fact about the Blue Angels is that they were the second oldest formal aerobatic team in the world!
Building relationships is a foundational aspect of social emotional learning (SEL). Pictured here is Park Lane students playing a board game together and working on building relationships and bonds with their classmates. With SEL, it’s the little things that matter most!
During the first week of programming, Pineland students learned about the solar system. Pictured left, you can see some of the students vigorously working on the iPads. They had to break into groups to research a specific planet, and present it to their fellow classmates. Following the activity the students made amazing planetary keychains modeling them after the planet they presented!
This month, Heart House is looking forward to a trip to the Arboretum for Nature week, fun with The Bruce Wood Dance Project, and learning to recycle household items.
