Heart House First-Ever VIP Fundraiser

Heart House gathers its closest supporters for its first-ever VIP fundraiser complete with world-class cocktails, global DJ, and silent auction.

June 20, 2019

By day, Heart House supporters are finance executives, business owners, counselors, marketing directors, artists, teachers, and powerful soccer moms. By night, on June 20, 2019, they came together to celebrate the students of Heart House: the refugee children of Vickery Meadow.

The venue was the soon-to open Redfield’s Tavern in the Medical District, the newest addition to veteran bar-restaurant owners Joe Tillotson and Scott Cecil’ portfolio. Underwriting the space, food and alcohol, Redfield’s also served as Presenting Sponsor of the fundraiser.

The event was co-chaired by Gerry Magrini of TPG Sixth Street Partners and Shideh Sharifi of Sharifi Law Firm, who also serve on the agency’s board of directors.

World Refugee Day is a day to honor and celebrate the plight of refugees all across the globe, designated by the UNHCR and embraced by welcoming communities such as Dallas.

The more than 200 guests mingled to the latest global hits, along the horse-shoe style bar, decked out to giant colorful lily floral arrangements for most of the evening, broken only by a short program.

Heart House CEO Lenita Dunlap, fresh from speaking at an international conference in Toronto, addressed the crowd, sharing the power of resilience she’s seen among the children of Heart House. In the spirit of gratitude, Gerry thanked the crowd, reinforcing that everyone can make a difference in the lives of these children. Two powerful videos produced by Orit Chaim and DMA helped bring the laughter, personalities, and energy of the
children and Heart House programming to the event.
