Heart House Parent and Caregiver Updates

Heart House is now open for the Fall semester.  Monday/Wednesday is virtual programming and Tuesday/Thursday is in-person programming.  All students are required to wear masks, follow social distancing protocols, and wash their hands regularly.  Each day your child attends they will have their temperature taken and asked how they are feeling.  If you do not have access to a mask one will be provided for your child.  Every precaution will be taken to ensure the health and safety of your child.

Please do not send your child to school if they have any of the following symptoms: Fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea.

On the in-person days your child will be given a grab n go meal to eat onsite and one to take home for the following day.  These are being provided by Kids bring Life and we appreciate their dedication to the children.

If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to the site manager of your child’s classroom.

Dear Heart House supporters,

Heart House students are back to school. Thank you for your gifts of time, talent, and treasure for the summer program.

Thanks to your support, Heart House will continue to provide services this Fall, virtual and in-person.  Amidst many changes, staying in touch with the students provides a stability and assurance that some things do not change; and while we are all getting used to mask-wearing and social distancing these conditions are not optimal for anyone. There are 4 ways your support is continuing to help move refugee and immigrant children from chaos to calm:

  1. Virtual and in-person lessons to support schoolwork from Dallas ISD
  2. Social Emotional Learning woven throughout the week
  3. Counseling sessions and check-ins
  4. Hands-on learning projects such as Lemonade Day and Growing Gardens

Due to the disruption of their learning environment children may be lagging in subjects such as reading and math. Keeping that in mind, fall programming will provide more academic support in these areas.
